Thermal surveying for power station planning
Abstract
HR Wallingford has recently been responsible for major
studies of cooling water dispersal from the Paka Power Station complex
on the east coast of Malaysia in order to provide optimum design locations
for a new outfall. The studies comprised bathymetric and hydrographic
surveys, including observations of plumes and a computerised model assessment
of flow and heat transport. This paper summarises the studies which also
involved advanced methods of temperature profiling using a new streamer
developed by Electronic and Geophysical Services Ltd.
