Marine geophysical methods
Abstract
This paper discusses the technology of marine seismic profiling, and in particular the application of these methods to sand search surveys. The several elements of a complete seismic profiler are described, as well as the operating system and interconnections necessary if the profiler is to operate as an efficient whole. Methods of reduction of observations, interpretation and presentation are also considered, with special reference to the provision and use of interpreted data in digital form. Finally the particular aspects of interpretation of sand search data are discussed. The paper is embellished with Plates and illustrations necessary for a proper appreciation of the inherent complexities of good marine seismic profiling.
