PROJECT TITLE: PNG GAS PIPELINE SURVEY
CLIENT: ExxonMobil and APC
LOCATION: Papua New Guinea – Australia
DATE: 2005

EOS Joint Venture, on behalf of ExxonMobil and APC, appointed EGS Survey Pty Ltd (EGS) to carry out a Pipeline Route Survey and Geotechnical Survey to confirm the viability of the PNG Gas Pipeline Route.

The comprehensive geotechnical survey undertaken by EGS included seabed sampling by gravity cores, 6m vibrocores, 5m rotary cores and CPT. CPT measurements included specialist T-Bar testing to resolve Shear Strengths of very soft sediments to an accuracy of +/-1kPa.

For this 400km long Pipeline project to supply gas to the Australian market passes from the Omati River Mouth, PNG, to the Cape York Landfall near Weipa, EGS utilized the vessel MV Samson explorer for survey operations.
EGS prides itself on high standards of health and safety. Subsequent to job completion, ExxonMobile recognized the outstanding, incident free record on this project by presenting EGS with an award for safety.
