Since the end of 2005, EGS have acquired their own survey
vessels. First in the fleet was, the 61m class MV Ridley Thomas
(ex Western Inlet), which has been converted into a dedicated
geophysical and cable route survey vessel based in Singapore.
The purchase of the RV Ridley Thomas followed by further vessel
purchases such as the 47m long RV EGS Surveyor (ex Grampian
Monarch) and 75m long EGS Explorer (ex Allied Commander, June
2008). We manage the vessel logistics, crew and maintenance
schedules through our own in-house ship management company,
EGS Marine, based in Subic Bay, Philippines,
and managed by Capt Rick Poole. With
these vessels, EGS is now in a position to extend their survey
services in the Oil & Gas sector to rig site and hazard
surveys in addition to pipeline route and engineering type
survey work. EGS’ expansion into the oil & gas survey
market is well documented by survey successes for our in country
offices for Woodside Petroleum in Australia, BP in Indonesia
and ONGC in India
EGS has an extensive asset portfolio, which includes a comprehensive range of modern well maintained survey equipment. Two of our survey vessels are equipped with the latest and state of the art sounding equipment such as Kongsberg-Simrad’s EM122 (1°x 1° - full ocean depth) or EM710 swathe bathymetry systems. EGS has an active R&D effort that has produced a number of proprietary survey systems and software all developed under rigorous ISO 9001 procedures.
