Surface geochemical exploration (SGE) surveys have become a critical step in the hydrocarbon exploration cycle. These surveys can provide critical information to inform further exploration activities at a fraction of the cost of traditional exploration activities such as seismic surveys.
EGS has developed a tailored approach to allow greater flexibility during field activities to ensure maximum success and increased percentage of hydrocarbon indicator return rates on samples.
EGS’s hydrographers are leaders in MBES data acquisition and processing and provide high-quality data to the onboard team of specialist geoscientists. Our team of geoscientists are skilled and experienced in the interpretation of the various MBES data products and integrating the results with sub-bottom and existing 2D and 3D seismic data sets to accurately pick high value targets of interest for piston core sampling. Initial onboard geochemical testing in state of the art clean lab facilities provide immediate feedback on the existence of hydrocarbon indicators in piston core samples recovered to deck.
EGS’s detailed daily field deliverables have set a new standard for SGE surveys and are an invaluable tool to focus field operations in real time to ensure optimum results. In some cases, EGS’s interpretations have led to an over 80% success rate in recovering geotechnical samples with evidence of hydrocarbon indicators.
EGS owns a large pool of state of the art survey equipment and deep-water SGE capable survey vessels that allow us to mobilize quickly around the world based on client needs.

I just wanted to take the opportunity presented by the end of survey data acquisition activities to say thank you and well done on the excellent performance of the EGS team through the execution of the works to date.
