Nearshore

- NEARSHORE HYDROGRAPHIC & GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

EGS understands that the science of surveying in the near-shore environment goes beyond the mere utilisation of offshore survey equipment in shallow waters. Surveying in the near-shore environment requires a specialised set of skills that understand the hazardous conditions of the coastal environment (such as tidal currents and surf zones). The survey project team also requires a good understanding of the coastal engineer's requirements.

To help in this regard we have developed a number of proprietary survey tools and software that are specifically adapted to the unique conditions that prevail in shallow coastal waters. These systems (which include seismic profiling and swath mapping systems) extend our ability to provide engineering survey solutions up to the water's edge.

- SURVEYS FOR INFASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS

Development of infrastructure in the coastal area needs careful planning and surveying. Examples include the construction of ports, petro-chemical complexes and coastal power stations, which typically require the integration of bathymetric, geophysical, geotechnical and oceanographic data in order to refine foundation design, the siting of intake and outfall structures and assessment of the environmental impact.

The various survey services offered by EGS can be consolidated into a complete survey package. This is to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the environmental factors affecting the project, as well as to achieve an economical solution. The EGS pro-active approach allows for innovative tailor-made solutions to be developed together with our clients.

Since EGS was established in Hong Kong in 1974, the company has carried out surveys for nearly every infrastructure development in Hong Kong. The company has an extensive database of bathymetric, geophysical, geotechnical and oceanographic data of every part of Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta.
