GPS and Optical Surveying

Description

We have worldwide experience of topographic survey operations; much of our work is now carried out using GPS technology. EGS was the first company in the UK to have GPS surveying accepted by the Environment Agency.

Applications

GPS SURVEYS:
We have built up a wealth of experience using GPS and carried out many projects worldwide, ranging from geodetic campaigns to floodplain monitoring using Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and post-processing systems.

TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYS:
Using the latest technology in survey instrumentation and computing, a complete range of projects can be undertaken. All work is automated and fully computerised using Landscape, SDRmap/AutoCad and other software to produce plots, 3D and 2D models and many digital outputs to link to your software.

COASTAL MONITORING SURVEYS:
EGS has undertaken many coastal monitoring campaigns worldwide. The use of GPS, total stations, DGPS, decimetric DGPS, RTK GPS and in-house hydro packages and software gives us the capability and experience to survey any coastline from the shore to any distance off shore.

We also carry out:·

  • Geodetic survey and determination of datum shifts
  • General topographic survey
  • Flood defence asset management survey
  • Coastal defence survey
  • Determination of land volumetric databases

We have made a significant investment in satellite technology. GPS (Global Positioning Systems) have added an extra dimension to the work of the surveyor. Our substantial international experience with this technology has been beneficial in projects involving short time scales and the need to cover difficult terrain in remote locations.
