The EGS Group together with its local Thai partner, STS Engineering Consultants, were contracted by Esso in Thailand to conduct a geophysical survey and geotechnical investigation at a refinery in Sri Racha.
The objectives of the survey were to acquire high resolution geophysical and detailed geotechnical data for trenchability assessment, sheet piling design and foundation design.
Geophysical survey operations were conducted from a locally chartered vessel and the geotechnical investigation was done from a barge provided by STS. To complete the project, EGS deployed its suite of high resolution hydrographic and geophysical equipment in combination with its shallow geotechnical solution consisting of a 35kN seabed CPT, a 6m piston corer with dedicated LARS and containerised A-Frame and box corer.
The project was successfully completed on time, on budget and without any incidents.
EGS will next deploy its portable combined geophysical and geotechnical solution on a large Oil & Gas project in Australasia in Q2-Q3 2020.
